i had a great christmas in missouri. the whole family was there geared up for some holiday cheer!

i was cranking out granny squares for my jemaine blanket while we watched movies, and my new sister-in-law said she wanted to learn how to knit and crochet.  we spent quite a few hours on the couch, and she is a very determined person and a fast learner, just look at her on the left!

i was working on a fast, big, chunky scarf, but had trouble with it curling and i have no idea how to fix it or why it did that.... susan, help?!  i have so much to learn....

how did you spend your holiday?

  1. so, the frustrating thing about stockinette stitch is that it curls. there's no way to easily fix this other than blocking it so that it stays flat for awhile. in most cases, putting some sort of border on it while you're knitting fixes it (3-4 stitches of seed stitch or garter stitch). also, doing any other type of pattern will help it be flat (like a rib, lace or cable).
